Why is Reading Important?

Reading is Still Fundamental
Picture
Reading books is instrumental to learning. There is plenty of reasons why reading is a beneficial practice. For starters, reading helps to expand the mind and give us more ideas. Reading has been proven to keep our minds young, healthy and sharp, with studies showing that reading can even help prevent alzheimer’s disease.  Reading also develops the imagination and allows us to dream and think in ways that we would have never been able to before. So, you can see that the importance of reading is completely undeniable. The next time someone asks you: “Why is reading important?” you will have an educated and thorough answer to respond with. If you’re not the biggest fan of books, that’s ok! You’re not alone! But before you shut down books and reading all together, take the time to learn more about the importance of reading and all the incredible benefits that come with it.

Additionally,  r
eading allows for creative thinking, and can inspire you when you are feeling bored, down or in a rut.. It can help give you that very needed pick-me-up without having to search too far for it. Reading helps get the creative side of your brain thinking, unlike television that really does not use much creative brain power.

Therefore, challenge yourself by stepping out of your comfort zone, and you may even surprise yourself with a newfound passion. You’ll be amazed to see the places reading can take you.

Battered, Beaten, Bruised, but not Broken

In her educational textbook style memoir, "Battered, Beaten, Bruised, But Not Broken," Bev candidly details her experiences with violence, aggravated stalking, and the effects of stalking that contributed to emotional trauma. More importantly, Bev chronicled her memoir in such a way that the readers can experience the highs and lows of her emotion, journey and champion her resiliency. Bev used her memoir to educate her readers on the effects of violence from an impacted individual's perspective. She also details the physical and emotional toll violence has on its victim and how we can learn to cope and not let abuse define who we are, leaving us broken. Bev says anyone impacted by abuse can recover and go on to live a happy, healthy, resilient life once they make the decision that enough is enough and step out in faith, walking away from their abuser and abusive situation. Finally, while Bev supports all individuals impacted by violence, she is passionate about working with women and girls in a shared experience so that every woman and girl can feel safe, supported, loved, listened to, and respected. She is learning how to say "no" and dealing with the burdensome consequences when "no" is not heard or listened to. And finding love for yourself when the only love you can see is hidden deep within your most challenging part of your past. Bev Speaking Topics includes Grief, Domestic Violence, Family Violence, Suicide Prevention, Survivors of Suicide and Homicide, Brokenness, Finding Hope, Dealing with Anxiety, and Depression. BATTERED, BEATEN, BRUISED, BUT NOT BROKEN.

Marriage and Family Life

Biblical principles are shared on what God requires for marriages and families, the purpose and the role in representing God. Bev share many practical Biblical principles to help others avoid some of the potholes she have driven into (so to speak). As an educator, and behavioral coach, Bev focuses on the whole person concept in addressing the issues plaguing marriages that has the divorce rate at 50%.  Too many times  as couples or families, we compartmentalize our  relationship, family, career, health, and finances and wonder why we are out-of-balance with our spouse and over-committed and burdened that we are no good to our family. This book will help transform your mindset about marriage and family, and help you and your spouse evolve to a better version of yourselves.

Chosen

This book of testimonies is a compilation of my real-life experiences. I share these personal stories hoping they will inspire and encourage those who may be experiencing extreme adversity. It is a recommended read for both Christians and non-Christians. You will see how having faith the size of a mustard seed can grow and cement your relationship with God. More significantly, you will see up close what happens when God is at work and when He blesses even the most undeserving person with grace and mercy. Some testimonies are of situations that could have had dire consequences.  However, God intervenes, intercede, and interrupted even some of the most deadly and emotionally crushing conditions.  God Bless You as you read.

Sometimes our Biases in the church and in life causes us overwhelming burdens and block our blessings. This book allows you to look more closely at how your biases may be controlling your behavior and preventing you from growing, keeping you stagnated, and burdened that you cannot see the many blessings God has given you.
