Here we feature voices from a variety of experts on domestic violence and victimization. Unfortunately, there is a lingering myth that women who are abused, either deserve it, or should have just left their situation. As a result, advocates, organizations, and researchers must spend time defending them because this is far from the truth. The real questions advocates want everyone asking is, "Why do abusers abuse?" Never blame victims, no one deserves to be hit or beaten. Additionally, our program improves relations between victims and family members who otherwise do not understand why the victim stayed despite their many attempts to encourage them to leave. Even where relations have not been completely reconciled, there is often an increased understanding of the nature of family violence that helps the families move forward with their lives. With appropriate supports, many victims find a renewed hope in moving on. Thank you for supporting Precious Petals Foundation, Inc. and its mission and vision to assist victims of domestic violence.
